Week commencing Sunday 8th April 2001

Sunday 8th April

Decided to get up early and go for a dip on the sixth floor !

Irene volunteered to check the temperature.

Then into the hot-tub.
Irene was a bit nervous at first.

Hurry up, I'm having trouble keeping in one place !

Quick, get out, there's a shark in the water !

The floor above Paddy's Market was host to this Chinese Dragon...

...very colourful.

Off for a beer and some snacks 8-)

Monday 9th April

Peter spent the day working on the laptop.
Irene went walkabout in Sydney !
We decided to try out the restaurant on a floating boat at Darling Harbour.
U
nfortunately Peter picked up a stomach bug, so couldn't eat !
Irene's food wasn't much cop either, so tonight was a bit of a washout 8-(

Tuesday 10th April

Out and about in Sydney today.

Wednesday 11th April

Back to the Revolving Restaurant this evening...

This is the CentrePoint tower viewed from ground level.
It's a long way up !

There are two restaurants on different levels at the top of the tower.
We chose the one with waiter service this time.
Irene had a Prawn Cocktail starter and Peter picked the Penne Arabiatta - both were excellent !

Thursday 12th April

This clock is the centrepiece of the Queen Victoria Building.

At last, there is something worth watching at the cinema !
We really enjoyed 'Crocodile Dundee in LA'
(The picture was taken inside the cinema complex)

Friday 13th April

This is the entrance to Paddy's Market.
The market stretched to the end of the red brick building in the distance - it takes quite a while to get round all the stalls !

It's Friday, so where should we eat ?
How about...
...Doyles ? 8-)
(The Opera House is just across the water in the picture)

Now let's see...
...yes, it's got to be John Dory and a couple of chips - twice !

The Captain Cook cruise ship is off round the harbour.
Looks really spectacular at night !

Saturday 14th April

Today we decided to take a trip to the south coast to see the dolphins...

The coach starts off from Star City - a new addition to Darling Harbour.
We thought this water display was really good !

On the way, we stopped off at this 'Blow-Hole'...
...no, really, it's called a Blow-Hole 8-)

We were a bit too complacent about getting to the harbour early...
...so we ended up way back in the queue !

After a lot of searching, we finally spotted some fins !

...and a bit closer.

...you don't get much closer than this !
These critters love to sit on the bow wave for a free ride 8-)

Final stop of the day at this waterfall.
I could only get a small part of it in the frame - it goes down a LONG way !
