Week commencing Sunday 1st April 2001

Sunday 1st April

Sunday is Paddy's Market day...

They have a big selection of fruit and veg...

...as well as the usual stalls.
This is where the locals come to buy - the prices are much more reasonable than the city shops.

Monday 2nd April

Peter spent the day working on the laptop.
Irene went walkabout in Sydney !

Tuesday 3rd April

We're off to the Revolving Restaurant tonight...

The Centre-Point tower (in the distance with the worryingly thin base) has a viewing platform and two restaurants at the top. We chose the self-service restaurant for our first visit this trip.

This is a (very much narrowed) view from our table.
The actual view is awesome - you would need a wide-angle lens to do it justice !

Wednesday 4th April

Back to Darling Harbour...

We couldn't resist a ride on this little train !
You can just about make out the monorail top left of the picture.

Thursday 5th April

Quiet (comparatively) day of rest, out and about in Sydney.

Friday 6th April

G'day Sheila !
Waiting for the lift again 8-)

On the way to the restaurant, we heard this deafening racket !
These guys were well into their Friday night boozing session 8-)

Doyles IV - best food (and wine) in Sydney !

This guy was playing a tune on beer bottles filled to different levels.
The notes were surprisingly accurate, considering !

Saturday 7th April

Since a good part of Sydney closes on Saturday afternoons, we generally shoot off to Manly...

View of the beach...

...and the cool (literally) fountain !

The Jet Cat is a jet propelled catamaran - very smooth.
You don't get the feeling you are moving at all until you look to the side and see the water whizzing by !

Time for our regular 'Sundowner' on our balcony !
